About the Event

Volunteers are essential in the success of any great event. They are vital in providing a safe, organized and fun race. It will take over 50 volunteers to ensure the safety, accuracy, fun and the highest level of organization necessary to produce the 4th annual Monumental Mile.
Volunteers are needed to help with packet pick-up, start line coordination, the finish line, course marshals, and clean up. Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age.

Now is your chance to take part in welcoming all of the athletes and spectators that will be joining us for this amazing downtown event.

Beyond Monumental Volunteers

Volunteer Duties Include:

PACKET PICK-UP
Be a part of the anticipation and excitement before the Inaugural Monumental Mile! Athletes pick up their event information and race bib numbers so they are ready for the race. Duties include passing out race packets and t-shirts to participants, providing race information and assisting in directing people as they prepare for the mile.
Location: The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle

GEAR CHECK
Assist participants by keeping their belongings safe as they enjoy the event with you as a smiling face to connect with them after. Duties include labeling and organizing participant’s belongings so that they are ready for quick pick-up at the end of the race.

Start Line Setup/Coordination
A behind the scenes duty that helps the Monumental start with success. Provide an extra hand as the Start Line is assembled/dismantled and help coordinate the different waves.
Location: Report to Finish Area (The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle) to sign in and pickup volunteer shirt then report to the Start Area at 12th and Meridian by5:30 pm.

FINISH LINE / RUNNER SERVICES
Be the first to see the runners as they come across the finish line. Be a part of the finish celebration! As they finish, we need your help to guide them through the following areas:
Bottled Water Distribution : Hand the participants their much needed bottled water. They will be very appreciative!
Finish Line Assistant : Be there right in the heart of the action, helping keep the participants moving once they cross the finish line.
Location: Finish Line at The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle

COURSE MARSHAL
Direct participants along the route to ensure they go the proper way while encouraging them along the way. Duties include having a proper understanding of the course and ensuring safety. Some walking will be required. Refreshments will be provided.

TEAR DOWN CREW
A behind the scenes duty that helps the Monumental finish with success. Provide an extra hand as the Finish Line is dismantled and the Finish Area is returned back to original condition. Can’t be afraid to get your hands dirty or help with heavy lifting.
Location: Report to Finish Area (The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument located on Monument Circle)

All volunteers will receive a Race Crew T-Shirt.

All volunteer assignments are outdoors. We will provide volunteer shirts so that people will instantly recognize you as a Monumental Mile volunteer. Dress comfortably including comfortable shoes.
