The 500 Festival, a not-for-profit volunteer organization, was created in 1957 to organize civic events celebrating the greatest race in the world. Over the past 60+ years, the 500 Festival has grown to become one of the largest festivals in the nation.
Volunteer with us this year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 500 Festival and Indianapolis 500 Education Program.
We have designed an Indiana Academic Standards based curriculum for fourth graders around the state. It’s a free program to all students in the state of Indiana. Students learn about the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the history of the 500 Festival through thought-provoking, interesting and fun lessons and projects. After studying in the classroom, schools can visit the Speedway in April for a unique educational Study Trip. If you like racing, enjoy being out at the track and want to make a difference in a fourth grader’s day, then this is the opportunity for you!
