Yuletide Usher Training

About the Event

Join Indiana’s largest performing arts organization for our 2016-2017 Hilbert Circle Theatre Volunteer Training! We are hosting our annual volunteer training Tuesday, November 15 from 6:30PM-8:00PM. Registration begins at 6:00 PM. The training will take place at the historic Hilbert Circle Theatre. Topics covered include: policies and procedures, volunteer benefits, and a tour of our theatre. This training is geared towards first time volunteers, however all volunteers are encouraged to attend.
**Each year. enthusiastic and committed individuals contribute over 12,500 hours to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Volunteer shifts last roughly four hours and includes volunteer parking and one complimentary ticket vouchers. Volunteers must be able to navigate stairs, stand for several hours at time, and be customer service focused.

Yuletide Volunteers

During the month of December we have 32 Yuletide concerts. To join our family, all volunteers must complete training. If you can not attend our training on Tuesday, November 15, please contact our Volunteer Services Manager at dfinney@indianapolissymphony.org to request our video training.

Ticket Taker

Responsibilities: The Hilbert Circle Theatre ticket taker greets patrons and scans their ticket as they enter the theatre. Each ticket taker will assist patrons by directing them to their seats, restrooms, and bar locations. When appropriate, ticket takers will direct patrons with questions regarding their season subscription or problems with their tickets to box office personnel. When the concert begins ticket takers will remain at their assigned doors to assist with latecomer seating and re-entry to the theatre. Following the concert the ticket takers will collect concert programs from patrons in an effort to recycle used programs. When necessary, ticket takers will notify the House Manager and Event Supervisor of any emergencies.

Requirements: Be outgoing and friendly, with a good understanding of the theater layout. Must be able to stand for approximately 4 hours.

Concert Usher

Responsibilities: Hilbert Circle Theatre concert ushers distribute program books and respond to seating questions. When appropriate, concert ushers will escort patrons to their seat location. Concert ushers will notify the House Manager or Event Supervisor of any seating concerns or problems. During the performance, concert ushers will assist patrons as they enter and exit the auditorium being careful to observe concert etiquette. Following the performance, concert ushers will collect concert programs from patrons in an effort to recycle used programs. When necessary, concert ushers will notify the House Manager and Event Supervisor of any emergencies.

Requirements: Be outgoing and friendly, with a good understanding of the theater layout. Must be able to stand for approximately 4 hours.

Coat Check Assistant

Responsibilities: Hilbert Circle Theatre coat check assistants will check in patron’s coats, umbrellas and large items. Coat check volunteers will often be asked directions for restrooms, seating area etc. During the performance, coat check volunteers many be asked to assist with coverage of doors so fellow volunteers may take a break.

We offer free parking when volunteering that night for the concert, a ticket voucher to use for performances through our season
