The Central Indiana MathCounts competition will be held on Friday, February 14 at Sycamore School (1750 W 64th St, Indianapolis, IN 46260), and needs volunteers to help with proctoring and scoring tests.
Most volunteers are needed from 8:45 am until 12:30 pm. Volunteers that want to serve as proctors will need to arrive earlier (~8:30 am) and will be done earlier. No math expertise is required.
You are welcome to stay after we are done with the tests to see the final countdown round where the top 16 students face off in a Jeopardy style contest for a trophy and bragging rights. You’ll be amazed at how smart these kids are!
Light snacks and lunch will be provided.
Volunteers should email Jeff Cottrell at cottrell@lilly.com to register prior to February 14.
The MATHCOUNTS Competition Series is a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers. Created in 1983, it is the longest-running MATHCOUNTS program and is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. For over 40 years MATHCOUNTS has provided engaging extracurricular math programs for middle school students. An experience in MATHCOUNTS builds confidence, fosters a love of learning and develops skills that help students reach their full potential.
