Have fun and support a worthy cause—Volunteer for “STEP Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes,” held at Celebration Plaza at White River State Park (Indianapolis, IN) on August 12th. This event supports Hoosiers with diabetes and funds local research and programs. Have some free time? Need a group project? We have various shifts available for event setup on Friday, August 11th and Event Day, Saturday August 12th.
Day of event Volunteer positions available include: Event Set up (Friday and Saturday) •Route Signage •Registration •Volunteer Check-in •Medical Support •Parking •Start/Finish line cheer teams •Active Kids’ Area•Lunch Tent •Clean-up.
All volunteers receive free lunch and a T-shirt. Volunteers are so special to the American Diabetes Association and every hour you give makes a major impact. The Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is a success because so many volunteers give their heart and soul. Whatever your reason, we would love for you to become part of this dynamic, passionate and fun group of people that volunteer together at this event. Day of event Volunteer positions available include:
Event Set up (Friday and Saturday): Set up shade tents, tables and chairs. Set up literature and designated areas. Set up start/finish line. Set up volunteer food and drink station with coffee, bagels, water and fruit.
Route Signage: Put out the markers and route signs, and place tables/chairs/tents at water stops. Shuttle volunteers to the rest stop with food and beverage.
Registration: Check in/register all walkers before the event. Distribute T-shirts.
Volunteer Check-in: check in volunteers and direct them on their designated area.
Red Strider Tent: Set up Red Strider Tent for our walkers with Diabetes. Greet Red Striders and disperse goody bags. Help with teardown of event.
Active Kids’ Area: Help set up kids zones, chairs, shade tents.
Hospitality: Prepare food and drinks. Keep supplies replenished and the areas in a tidy order as well as cleaning up leftovers, etc.
Clean-up/Site Tear Down: Assist in securing the Step Out site back to its original state.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt and will be provided lunch. |
