Do you love dogs (or, cats)? You’d love FIDO!
FIDO – Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside – is a non-profit, animal advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of outside dogs! It focuses services on dogs kept continuously chained or penned. Their programs have evolved over the years to also fill other animal welfare gaps in Indy community. FIDO partners with Indianapolis residents to find alternatives to continuous chaining as a method of dog containment while promoting the Indianapolis Dog Care & Treatment ordinances. One of their goals is to make it easier and more convenient for owners to bring their dogs inside the home to be part of the family.
FIDO volunteers work together in a variety of ways to directly improve the lives of dogs (and cats) in our community. Roles range from driving down alleys to find dogs in need, to mixing food for our pet food pantry, to helping fundraise.
