The Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse & Suicide was founded in 2001 with the sole focus to prevent abuse or suicide from ever happening to the youth in our communities. With almost two decades of experience, we provide evidence-based programming to educate youth and adults and empower them to recognize, react, and find the appropriate resources available for help. We offer five programs that support our mission and work towards a day when there will be no more abuse and lives are saved.
Child Safety Education Specialist: Provide education to students in K-12th grades across Central Indiana. Presentations are scheduled between the hours of 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM in various schools throughout Central Indiana, primarily in Hamilton, Marion, Boone, Hancock, Tipton, Madison and Johnson counties. All applicable training would be provided and volunteers will be a part of a team assigned to each school. Background checks are required and will be paid for by Indiana Center for Prevention.
Packet Making in Office: A massive part of our outreach and educating programs is going into schools and presenting to students. After we present to the students we leave them with handouts, stickers and a feedback form for the teachers to fill out. Making/prepping these packets is easy, but can be time consuming for our small staff.
Data Entry: Volunteers are needed to enter data into Microsoft Access. Must be comfortable using a computer. No prior experience with Microsoft Access is needed, we will train you. We do ask volunteers to work a minimum of 2 hours.
Communication via email will be sufficient.
We have plenty of parking at our office.
If you are interested in volunteering with us if you could please reach out to Malia Wood at malia@indianaprevention.org she will reach out to further discuss arrangements.
