Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana

Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana is an organization that educates, innovates, and advocates for our vulnerable neighbors by delivering medically tailored, nourishing, and culturally appropriate food while promoting social connectedness. These meals are delivered by dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteers. The organization ensures good nutrition by customizing meals for each individual client.

Volunteer Needs

Volunteers are the pulse of this Meals on Wheels program. Not only do they deliver meals to homebound citizens and seniors in the local community, they also provide companionship, a safe response and a warm, friendly smile when they arrive at the door.

There are numerous route opportunities in our Meals on Wheels program, though specific openings will vary from one location to another. People of varied interests and abilities can help – whether they want to be hands-on or behind the scenes. Timing is also flexible, but most programs deliver meals before noon.

Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana partners with 8 hospitals and healthcare facilities in Marion County that prepares medically tailored meals for our clients. Volunteers commit to 1-weekday a month to pick-up meals from our partner hospitals and healthcare facilities and then deliver medically tailored meals to clients in Indianapolis.

New volunteers will need to go through a 1.) Volunteer Orientation and 2.) Route Training – before delivering meals to clients on their own. Register at the link below to find when the next Volunteer Orientation is!
