Starfish Initiative

Starfish Initiative

Starfish Initiative was established in 2003 with a vision to make a difference in the lives of marginalized youth- one student at a time. Today we continue to advance our mission by:

  • Providing long-term, community-based mentoring to high school students.
  • Helping to improve post-secondary education attainment of academically promising students.
  • Aid in planning a pathway to economic mobility for Indianapolis high school students

Volunteer Needs

Starfish Initiative believes in the power of “making a difference to that one.” We have ongoing and one time volunteer opportunities available. Here are some ways you can get involved with Starfish Initiative:

  • Become a Mentor Starfish Initiative mentors are caring, committed adults who provide guidance and support to motivated high school students on their path to success.
  • One time event- help out at one of our events throughout the year, Back to School Kick-Off, College Fair, Career Fair, Senior Send-Off, and Teambuilding.
  • Workplace encounters- provide Starfish scholars the opportunity to hear directly from career professionals and employers on skills and educational training required to enter a variety of professions.
