Salvation Army of Central Indiana: Ongoing Needs at Our Centers and Corps

Salvation Army of Central Indiana

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

We are looking for individuals and groups to donate their time and give back at our centers and corps which have volunteer opportunities including the following:

  • food pantry food box packing
  • food pantry service when open to community
  • oversee community open gym
  • mentor youth during gaming night
  • provide financial assistance support

Volunteer Needs

Eagle Creek Corps

  • financial assistance support – review individual applications to gather information on needs, interview individuals applying for assistance, etc. with a flexible schedule during weekdays for a couple hours between 9am-4pm
  • assist with community family programming – help with the community programming for youth and adults on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30pm
  • gym assistant with youth – help in our community open gym on Wednesdays from 3-5pm
  • food pantry driver – drive to Gleaner’s to pick up weekly food and bring back/unload van on Thursdays from 7:30-9am
  • food pantry preparation – pack food boxes and get other items ready on Thursdays from 9am-12pm
  • food pantry assistant – help with distributing food to families on Fridays from 9am-12pm

Johnson County Center

  • office assistant – help needed in the office including filing from Monday thru Thursday anytime between 11am-4pm
  • teen/youth night – help with a new gaming experience for teens and youth on Friday evenings from 6-9pm
  • light cleaning – help keep the building clean with light housekeeping from Monday thru Thursday anytime between 11am-4pm
  • advisory council members – looking for more individuals to bring their expertise and knowledge along with helping establish strategy and policy and future direction
  • workshops and various meetings – looking for individuals and/or groups to offer financial and other workshops to families as well as assist with setting up/cleaning up workshops

Fountain Square Corps

  • financial assistance support – review individual applications to gather information on needs, interview individuals applying for assistance, etc. with a flexible schedule during weekdays for a couple hours
  • senior lunch/bingo – help with lunch and bingo and/or provide lunch and prizes on Wednesday afternoons
  • driver – transport seniors to lunch and bingo on Wednesday late morning and early afternoon
  • food pantry – assistance needed while food pantry is serving families on Tuesday and Thursday mornings
  • greeter – welcome families in the lobby when they arrive for social services appointments during the week

Volunteer Registration

Most volunteer positions at our centers and corps require an online background check and Safe from Harm in person training for which we cover the costs.
